Ganggeoni was rescued after he had been left to die by the owner of the dog farm in which he was raised in the aftermath of a huge forest fire near Ulsan in February 2018. His ears had been burned away, and he was skin and bone having barely eaten for a month.
At the time of rescue, the outermost layer of Ganggeoni’s skin had necrotized and there were pockets of pus all over his body. Every movement was painful. His eyelids had been burned and he couldn’t close his eye. Eye drops had to be regularly administered.
We would like to send our thanks to those who have supported and treated him through his ordeal.
When he was first admitted, he was on guard and very sensitive. It was impossible to expect otherwise, given his story, and our staff and volunteers patiently encouraged him to feel at ease. Now, he eats well and has regained his energy. However, he may still need continuous treatment for the rest of his life.
Ganggeoni is now a bona-fide cutie and approaches staff and volunteers for love and attention. He’s even grown some of his hair back!
He’s still anxious around strangers, but he is gradually getting better. He is very friendly with other animals and gets along very well with both humans he knows and animals alike.
It’s going to take a special family to look after Ganggeoni and help him fully recover from his trauma. Are you that special family? He is more than ready to be loved.
Depending on the breed, the size, and its environment the lifespan of a dog may vary from 12 to 16 years. It’s also possible that Ganggeoni will require further treatments and special care for the rest of his life. Please consider this when considering adopting Ganggeoni.
