Despite the cold and rain on February 23rd, an alliance of CARE and other animal rights organizations held a press conference in front of the government complex at Gwanghwamun to protest against mass culling of farm animals.

Furthermore, the alliance also asks that Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-an takes full responsibility for the government’s failure to improve animal welfare, and its failure to implement adequate preventative measures against epidemics such as Avian Influenza and Foot and Mouth.

After the press conference, the presidents of each organization submitted a letter requesting a face-to-face talk with Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-an to further discuss these issues.
