Jjongi’s owner was an old lady who tied her mouth with a thin rubber band to “educating” her. As Jjongi tried to open her mouth, the rubber band penetrated deeper and deeper. She was scared and ran away from the old lady. No one could catch Jjongi, yet since she could not eat and drink, she became weak and eventually collapsed.

When we rescued Jjongi, she was only 2.28kg which was seriously under-weight for an adult dog. According to the vet, Jjongi was close to death.

Jjongi is now healthy and happy, and awaiting a family.

CARE is an animal rights organization with offices in the United States and South Korea.

We actively rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abused and neglected animals, and run three no-kill shelters and two adoption centers, the only organization in South Korea doing so.

We campaign for and defend animal rights, fight against the dog meat trade, vivisection, factory farming, and holding animals captive for display and entertainment.
