Years of abuse, brain damage, and loss of sight
Continuous physical abuse even led to the shattering of his teeth.
Hodong was left in this state, unable to see, unable to chew, tied up to a small house, for three whole years. During the summer, mosquitoes would attack him, and during the winter, his limited food would freeze over. He was left all alone to anticipate and endure his owner’s next horrendous attacks.
As soon as CARE’s rescue team arrived, Hodong raised his guard and did not easily approach us. He was sitting motionless in a damp pile of mud, unable to see what was in front of him – a new life. We approached the owner with the notice of legal action and he gave up the dog very willingly.
It has been months since the rescue and Hodong is doing much better. He has completed his heartworm treatment and neck surgery with no other major health problems.
Although he cannot see or eat very well due to his lack of teeth, he is still very active and gets along well with the volunteers and members at the Thank You Center.
Even after 3 years of undeserved pain and suffering, Hodong chose to open his heart back up to people. Through all of the difficult times, he has not failed to lose his smile and energy.
